I wanted to take the opportunity to create the first blog
for this site. I'm not much of a blogger myself, but the creation of Bohra
Network is an interesting story that I wanted to share.
Making Bohra Network has been a
unique experience. It started with an idea and a light hearted conversation
that eventually became reality. I've
realized that brainstorming innovative ideas is a lot more fun then actually
pursing them. When it is all said and done, the process was much
underestimated.
We all have creative ambitious
ideas, but pursuing them is always more difficult then it sounds. Factors such
as; time, money, energy, risk and priorities make exploring these outside the
box ideas challenging. Throughout this whole project managing all these factors
have been indeed exhausting. The hours have been beyond what we have expected.
Having minimal experience with social networking sites made making decisions almost
trial and error. We made many discouraging mistakes along the way due lack of
experience, but always managed to bounce back. This was obviously critical to
the launch of this site.
I look back and before even
launching the site, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I am not judging this by
how many members enroll, but from simply not quitting. Bohra Network has been
fueled by passion from the beginning. It has finally started to take some form
and show an identity, but only time will tell its true potential.
The ideology of this site was based
purely on good intentions for our community. Recognizing the power of sites
like Facebook, LinkedIn and Craigslist, we realized a fusion concept of these
sites could be very useful for Dawoodi Bohras.
Our community is so sparse and an internet network is
exactly what we need to connect each other. Understanding Dawoodi Bohras, we’ve
noticed the need to connect singles, professionals, businesses, family and
friends. Our belief is that Bohra Network will help fill this current void in networking
and make our community stronger then it has ever been.
The site is in the beginning
stages, and it is not at the level of performance we’d like to be at. It has a
lot of potential, but that is determined by the interest and demand of our
users. We ask that you please spread the word to all Dawoodi Bohras and help
make this project a success. We would also appreciate any feedback regarding
the site.
