A Philosophy Becomes Reality (Trip of a Lifetime)

Introduction Blog Post from Trip of a LifetimeMy objective for this blog is to provide perspective on an exciting journey Mahera and I will be embarking on for the next 6 weeks. We will be traveling through Belize, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands and India. In Belize we will be staying 8 miles due east off the coast on a secluded island (3 acres) for 8 days. We will be learning to dive and exploring the third largest coral reef in the world. The remainder of time is allocated for relaxation, mental cleansing, introspection, reading, kayaking and swimming. After rejuvenating in Belize we will head towards Ecuador to spend a couple nights soaking up some culture before leaving for an ambitious 8 day trip to Galapagos Islands. We will be aboard a 20 person Yacht, island hoping for an opportunity to get up close and personal with fascinating wildlife including birds, turtles, iguanas and penguins to name a few. We hope to avoid motion sickness and get a new perspective from living on the ocean, far away from the mainland. It will be a rude awakening when we leave the Galapagos and transition to life in the Amazon. A quick puddle jumper ride and canoe ride along the amazon will lead us to the Siona lodge, where we will spend 3 nights in the heart of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. Here we look forward to see how the indigenous communities live off the land and sustain happiness. We anticipate facing our fears and accepting the presence of large insects, spiders, crocodiles and snakes in our surroundings. The thought of living in the jungle freaks me out, but it will be a great opportunity to experience the high biodiversity and indigenous community. From the Amazon, we will make our way to a small town nestled in the Andes Mountains, called Banos. The supposed backpackers dream destination, will be the hub for many of our adventurous desires. The daily itinerary is yet to be determined, but some preliminary thoughts for excursions are horseback riding, canyoning, zip lining and biking. We are sure to get some adrenaline pumping and also make time to relax while appreciating the beautiful landscape South America offers. The last stop on our itinerary will be Mumbai, India, where we will embrace family time while celebrating the marriage of Abeezer and Amena. It will be refreshing to be back with family in such a vibrant city such as Mumbai. Although not necessarily part of this itinerary, we also look forward to celebrating the marriage of Ali Asgher and Anisa just a couple weeks after we get back. Bravo to both our brothers and the lovely women they've chosen to spend the rest of their lives with.

This trip offers us much needed time away from the busy lives we lead. Mahera and I have a mutual philosophy on retirement and strongly believe that you shouldn't have to wait until your 60's to enjoy the benefits. We are projecting a 3-5 year plan to take time off to enjoy life and the fruits of our labor.

We are very privileged and grateful to have family, friends, religion, successful careers, an apartment in NYC, good health and all of life’s materialistic comforts. At times, when everything seems perfect, we are still susceptible to being consumed by a routine which can divert us away from our goals and obtainable dreams in life. I don’t know about you, but I’m yet to figure out, let alone answer my calling beyond the obvious. What is your purpose/contribution in this lifetime beyond a prosperous career and sustaining a happy family life? I am yearning to discover my purpose, tap into my passion and make my contribution to society. God has been to generous to me, to not think about how I can give back. Its something I'm looking forward to have time to think about. I'm sure the answer won't come anytime soon, but it will never come if you don't ask the question.

Thank you all for you for your love and support.

Together, Small Acts Of Kindness Are More Powerful Than One

Together, Small Acts of Kindness Are More Powerful Than One Together, we recently mourned the loss of Bill Haggerty and offered our condolences to the Haggerty family. Together, as a united force, we acted on empathy and showcased community support by graciously donating $3,400 to Bill's memorial fund as a token to his family.   Together, a group of friends priortized the well being of Bill's younger sibling and one of my best friends, Dan Haggerty. A getaway in the mountains offered him a moment of peace by riding his late brother's board on the slopes. Together, we offered strength and solace to the Haggerty family during this tragic time. Together, our intrinisc motivation to uplift the Haggertys led to small acts of kindness that had a multiplier effect to the love and support we provided. Now more than ever, the world is desperate for good deeds. Share your good deed and be the catalyst for others to follow. Photo of Dan Haggerty with Bill Haggerty's snowboard Phot...

In Memory of Dear Christina Saragaglia

I want to thank everyone who participated in the fundraiser for  Christina Saragaglia . It has been an amazing effort that we should feel proud of.  I remember waking up in the middle of the night  staring at the ceiling thinking about  Christina and her family.  I  was apprehensive to the idea of reaching out to the community in search of support for this cause.  I went with my gut feeling and the community response was an overwhelming positive energy during a time of unexplicable grief. In just a few days, together we raised a total of $6,571 for the Saragaglia Family. It is evident how much Stina is loved and also how much she will be missed. God bless America. I miss your laugh. Motivation Catalyst Outcome: $6K Donated to Family United community for a positive contribution

Firefighters to the rescue in 'The War Against COVID-19'

Noah Mueller and the rest of FDNY are being dispatched daily to respond to COVID-19 house call cases. Many of these individuals are fighting for their last breath and require CPR. It's an unprecedented calling and first responders are risking infection of the deadly virus with limited personal protection equipment available. It is no surprise, Noah and the FDNY, are seizing the opportunity to save lives, regardless of the extreme conditions of this pandemic. A couple years ago, I remember asking Noah to share a hero story from his 10+ years as a NYC firefighter. True to the firehouse culture,  refused to accept recognition of heroism and   instictually responded  with a sarcastic story about saving a cat. Firefigthers run towards danger which is an admirable testimant to these brave Frontliners during this pandemic. Mahera and I would like to collaborate on a  fundraiser  where all contributions go to Noah's firehouse "nosh fund" (firehouse meals su...
